Push description + services to GBP
Already live via Yext
Yext is already syncing the 750-char description and services to Google — no action needed from the practice.
Confirmed via Yext listings API (code 482): "Google has a 750 character limitation on the business description field. In order to sync your description, we have truncated your description to the allowed length." Translation: Yext is pushing the description, Google is accepting it, Yext trims to Google's 750-char cap automatically.
Why it didn't appear in the Maps overview scrape
Google doesn't display the structured business description on the Maps overview rail or About tab — it surfaces in the Search knowledge panel and the Google Business Profile mobile app. The audit scraped Maps, which is why the description looked missing.
Verification (one-minute check Terra can do)
- Open a fresh incognito window and search Google for "Clay Center Family Dental Care" (not Maps).
- Look at the right-hand knowledge panel for the description paragraph starting "Clay Center Family Dental Care is your trusted dentist in Clay Center, Kansas…"
- If present → done. If missing → open the Yext entity Dashboard view and click Force Sync on the Google listing (Marketing handles this, not Terra — see risk note under Item 2).
Services menu — same story, slightly different
Yext holds 20 structured services. Yext → GBP service-list sync depends on whether Clay Center's Yext subscription includes the "Google Services" sync module. If services aren't appearing on the GBP overview rail, Jenn should verify the module is enabled on this entity. No category-sync risk here — services sync is independent.

Add Cosmetic Dentist + Sedation Dentistry as GBP secondaries
Manual GBP edit — do NOT force sync
Important — do NOT execute via Yext Force Sync. Investigation found Yext holds only ONE category for Clay Center (1437822 = Dentist) while Google already has THREE (Dentist + Emergency Dental Service + Pediatric Dentist). A Yext force sync would overwrite Google's category list with Yext's single entry, regressing the Emergency + Pediatric secondaries. Do this one directly in Google Business Profile instead.
Current state
| Source | Primary | Secondaries |
| GBP (live) |
Dentist |
Emergency Dental Service, Pediatric Dentist |
| Yext (today) |
Dentist (1437822) |

| Target (after Item 2) |
Dentist |
Emergency Dental Service, Pediatric Dentist, Cosmetic Dentist, Sedation Dentistry |
Steps for Jenn (Marketing — 5 minutes)
- Open business.google.com/edit/l/u431933482738451438 (the Clay Center GBP edit page — login as the practice-connected Google account).
- Click Edit profile → Business information → Categories.
- Keep the primary category Dentist. Keep the existing secondary categories Emergency Dental Service and Pediatric Dentist.
- Click Add another category and search "Cosmetic Dentist" — select it.
- Click Add another category and search "Sedation Dentistry" or "Sedation Dentist" — select whichever Google surfaces.
- Save. Google will apply the change within a few minutes; occasionally will show "pending review" for 1–3 days.
Then, inside Yext (so it doesn't try to regress these later)
- Open the Clay Center entity in Yext: Yext Knowledge Graph → Clay Center Family Dental Care (entity id
166378694524868).
- Under Categories, add the matching Yext categories so Yext's record isn't downstream from Google. Minimum set to add: Cosmetic Dentist and Pediatric Dentist. (Emergency Dental Service and Sedation Dentistry are Google-only categories — Yext's taxonomy may not surface them. If Yext offers them, add them too.)
- Save. This brings Yext's categories into alignment with Google's new state and prevents the sync warning (status code 443) from recommending a regression.
Why not just click Force Sync? The Yext listings status details explicitly warn: "To avoid triggering reverification, we don't sync category changes to Google by default… Clicking Force Sync will update the categories as well, but may cause Google to require reverification of your listing." Reverification can mean a mailed postcard to the office or an automated phone call — a 3–7-day delay with the listing potentially flagged as "pending" the whole time. Not worth the risk when the direct GBP edit is one 5-minute task.

Seed 8 Q&A questions on GBP
Draft ready — Terra posts
Q&A is a Google Business Profile-only surface (Yext doesn't manage it). Terra posts the questions from a personal Google account, then switches to the business account to post the answers. Takes ~20 minutes total.
How to post (first time)
- From a personal Google account (NOT the business account — Terra's own Gmail works): open maps.google.com/?cid=15981886307776110842, scroll to the Questions & answers section, click Ask a question, paste in the Question text below, submit.
- Repeat for all 8 questions.
- Switch to the practice's Google Business Profile account (business.google.com, Clay Center profile). Refresh the Maps listing — the questions should appear.
- For each question, click Answer and paste the Answer text below. Answers posted from the business account display an "Owner" badge, which Google weights more heavily.
Who sees what: Patients see both the question (with Terra's name/photo) and the owner-badged answer. Over time, these answer paragraphs become indexable Google content for the practice.
The 8 seed questions & answers
1. Are you accepting new patients?
Yes! Clay Center Family Dental Care welcomes new patients of all ages. We often have same-week openings for new-patient exams. You can book online 24/7 at
our scheduler or call (785) 632-3126.
2. How much do dental implants cost at your practice?
Dental implant costs vary based on the number of implants, whether a bone graft or sinus lift is needed, and the type of final restoration. We'll give you an exact, written treatment plan after a consultation and 3D scan. Many patients use CareCredit or Sunbit financing to spread payments over 12–24 months. Call (785) 632-3126 to schedule a free implant consultation.
3. What dental insurance do you accept?
We accept most PPO insurance plans. We're happy to verify your benefits before your appointment — just call (785) 632-3126 with your insurance card ready. If you don't have insurance, ask about our in-house PlanForward membership plan — a flat annual fee that includes cleanings, exams, and discounts on all treatment.
4. Do you offer Invisalign clear aligners?
Yes — Dr. Dustin Kruse and Dr. Carrie Peterson both treat Invisalign cases, from mild crowding to full-arch realignment. Consultations include a 3D scan so you can see your projected results before you commit. Call (785) 632-3126 to schedule.
5. I'm nervous about the dentist — do you offer sedation?
Absolutely. We offer sedation dentistry options for anxious patients, including for routine cleanings when needed. Many patients who've avoided the dentist for years have had their first comfortable visit with us. Tell us when you book that you'd like to discuss sedation options.
6. Can you see my child here?
Yes! Clay Center Family Dental Care treats patients of all ages — including kids as young as their first tooth. We book family blocks so parents and children can be seen together. Call (785) 632-3126 or book online.
7. Do you handle dental emergencies?
Yes — we save time in the schedule every day for emergencies. If you have a broken tooth, severe toothache, lost filling or crown, or dental trauma, call (785) 632-3126 as early in the day as possible and we'll do our best to see you the same day.
8. Do you offer teeth whitening?
Yes. We offer professional in-office whitening for immediate results and take-home custom-tray whitening kits for gradual brightening. Both are safer and more effective than over-the-counter options. Ask about current whitening promotions when you book.
Optional 9th question — only if someone else posts a cost question first
What are your hours?
We're open Monday through Thursday, 8:00 AM to 4:30 PM, and Friday 8:00 AM to 4:30 PM. Closed weekends. For after-hours emergencies, leave a voicemail at (785) 632-3126 — we check messages throughout the day.
Note: Hours are also on the main listing, so Google tends to deprioritize this Q. Only post it if seeding anyway.
